The Tanweer Festival Begins in the Mleiha Desert in Sharjah

The second edition of the Tanweer Festival opened on Friday evening in Sharjah’s spectacular Mleiha Desert, heralding a transformative three-day event that blends art, music, heritage, and human connection. Centered around the theme “What You Seek Is Seeking You,” inspired by Rumi’s timeless wisdom, the festival attracted audiences worldwide for starlit concerts, intimate encounters, and immersive experiences across four distinct performance areas.

Against the backdrop of the desert’s ancient horizon and the newly designated UNESCO World Heritage site, Faya Paleolandscape, the opening ceremony highlighted Tanweer’s mission to unite global talent around stewardship, cultural memory, and communal creativity.

Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Founder and Visionary of Tanweer Festival, welcomed attendees with a heartfelt message: “At Tanweer, we gather in the sacred Mleiha landscape to pause, reconnect, and find stillness away from the rushed and agitated world. As Rumi teaches, polishing the mirror of the heart helps us rediscover the light within. I hope Tanweer offers each of us a moment of clarity, presence, and renewal.” Iraqi santur virtuoso Azhar Kubba beautifully accompanied her speech.
