Thales and Tawazun Council have reached a collaboration agreement to develop cutting-edge Ground Master series air surveillance radars locally. This deal supports the UAE’s goal of strengthening domestic production and defensive capabilities.
Together with officials from both parties, Matar Ali Al Romaithi, Sector Chief of Defence and Security Industry Affairs at Tawazun Council, and Abdelhafid Mordi, CEO of Thales in the UAE, attended the signing on the second day of the “Make it in the Emirates 2025” conference. This demonstrates Thales’ dedication to expanding manufacturing capabilities via innovation and industrial excellence, which is in line with the UAE’s goal.
The Ground Master radars are among the world’s top air surveillance and defence systems because of their exceptional performance, dependability, quick deployment, and versatility for a range of operations.
The facility, which will construct, test, and qualify cutting-edge air surveillance radars to satisfy the demands of both local and international markets, is expected to be completely operational by 2027. The plant will be a strategic asset by strengthening the UAE’s defence manufacturing capabilities, increasing self-sufficiency in vital technologies, and offering flexibility to meet changing operational requirements.
