The Zayed Award Recognizes Palestinian Organizations

The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity announced on Monday that Palestinian non-profit organisation Taawon has been named the third honouree of its seventh edition. Taawon will be recognised alongside the historic peace agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, as well as Afghan girls’ education advocate Zarqa Yaftali. The awards will be presented during the annual ceremony at the Founder’s Memorial in Abu Dhabi on February 4, 2026.

Taawon was selected for its long-standing humanitarian and development efforts that support more than one million people each year across Palestine. Established in 1983, the organisation has invested over $1 billion in a wide range of initiatives, including education, youth empowerment, orphan care, cultural programmes, the restoration of historic towns, and community development projects spanning health, agriculture, and emergency humanitarian relief.

Over the years, Taawon has carried out more than 8,200 projects aimed at strengthening resilience among Palestinians, particularly young people. Its work focuses on expanding opportunities, improving economic and social conditions, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting sustainable development.
