There Were 82 Drug Seizures in Sharjah Ports in 2024

Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi, Director of Ports and Border Points Affairs at the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, disclosed during the Sharjah Police’s participation in the “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2025” forum that up to 82 drug seizures were documented at customs ports in the Emirate of Sharjah in 2024. According to Al Raisi, this accomplishment reflects the authority’s ongoing efforts to enhance community security and combat smuggling.

He clarified that the Authority’s participation in the event demonstrated its crucial role in combating the widespread problem of drug consumption and in foiling attempts at illegal smuggling via the many customs ports in the emirate.

He underlined that the Sharjah government has invested a substantial amount of money in modernising customs ports and giving them access to cutting-edge tools and capabilities. He also emphasised the government’s dedication to national cadres’ training and certification, guaranteeing their continuous professional growth. He praised the work of individuals who work in the customs industry, who he said never stop trying to protect the country.
