A significant project to enhance the region’s water supply has been successfully finished by the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA). At a cost of Dhs43.77 million, this project included building a new pumping station, six pumps, a ground tank, and two overhead tanks in Wadi Al Helo in addition to extending a main water pipeline from Kalba to Wadi Al Helo.
This project is a component of SEWA’s continuous effort to improve water infrastructure and guarantee that everyone in the emirate has access to clean drinking water. The significance of this project for the community was emphasized by SEWA’s Kalba Department Director, Engineer Yousef Al Hammadi.
The project’s primary tasks included installing multiple pumps to maintain constant water pressure, constructing a pumping station that can handle 700,000 gallons of water per day, and connecting a larger pipeline to feed into a concrete water tank. In the process, they also installed fiber optic cables and almost 20 kilometers of steel pipes.
According to Al Hammadi, the project is now finished. All of the tanks and tubes have been thoroughly cleaned and sterilised, and the pumping station has undergone testing. Despite operating in rocky terrain, close to busy roads, and in wet weather, the work crews managed to overcome these obstacles.
