In a significant development in the two-year-old conflict, US President Donald Trump declared on Wednesday that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the “first phase” of his peace proposal, which calls for a halt in hostilities and the release of at least some hostages and prisoners.
As the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace, Trump stated on social media that “this means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their troops to an agreed upon line.
In the next few days, Hamas will trade Palestinian detainees for the release of all 20 surviving hostages, and the Israeli forces will start to evacuate most of Gaza.
