India, the most populous country in the world, is a crucial market for American businesses that have grown quickly to appeal to a rising number of wealthy consumers, many of whom are still enamoured with foreign goods that are considered status symbols. For instance, Domino’s has more restaurants in India than any other brand, and the nation is the largest market for Meta’s WhatsApp subscribers.
Apple, Amazon, Coca-Cola, and McDonald’s did not immediately reply to Reuters’ questions. Co-founder of Wow Skin Science in India, Manish Chowdhary, sent a video message on LinkedIn asking support for farmers and entrepreneurs to make “Made in India” a “global obsession” and to take inspiration from South Korea, whose food and beauty goods are well-known all over the globe.
