UAE Develops Control Measures as the Risk of Mosquitoes Increases Following Rains

Residents have been wondering how to get rid of mosquito breeding grounds because of the ongoing rainfall and the resulting buildup of stagnant water in numerous places, which creates an ideal setting for insects.

Reducing mosquito breeding places is crucial to enhancing public health and lowering related hazards, according to the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. This can be accomplished by taking easy and efficient preventive steps, including cleaning rainwater gathering sites, emptying containers that contain stagnant water, making sure that sufficient drainage is in place, properly disposing of waste, and routinely cutting grass and plants.

Furthermore, reducing breeding possibilities and limiting the spread of mosquitoes can be achieved by controlling larvae and mosquitoes with proper approaches. It is also advantageous to plant plants that repel mosquitoes.

Through statewide campaigns aimed at breeding areas, the Ministry is stepping up efforts to prevent mosquito breeding, especially after rainfall. These include applying pesticides, removing standing water, educating people about the importance of drying exposed containers, and working with local authorities to reduce larvae and fogging.

The Ministry emphasized that the primary goal is still to remove the source of stagnant water. This include clearing rainwater from rooftops and gardens, emptying plant containers, and doing routine spraying and inspections.
