The Comprehensive Peace Plan for Sudan, unveiled by US Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos, has been welcomed by State Minister Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan. The plan is based on five pillars: post-war reconstruction, a permanent ceasefire, sustained humanitarian access and civilian protection, a political transition to a civilian-led government, and an immediate humanitarian truce.
In this sense, Sheikh Shakhboot praises US President Donald Trump’s leadership for keeping Sudan from devolving further into radicalism, disintegration, and a worsening humanitarian crisis. In addition to guaranteeing urgent, quick, safe, and unimpeded humanitarian access throughout Sudan, Sheikh Shakhboot reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to assist regional and global efforts to secure an immediate ceasefire and an unconditional humanitarian truce.
He emphasized that taking these actions is crucial to opening the door to a transitional process free of extremist organizations and warring parties, such as those linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, and aligned with the Sudanese people’s desire for an autonomous, civilian-led government.
Sheikh Shakhboot also reiterated the UAE’s steadfast commitment to cooperating with the Quad, stressing that an immediate ceasefire would bolster current initiatives to establish a long-term, civilian political solution that prioritises the needs of the Sudanese people.
