Launched by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Saturday night, December 27, the 120th open auction of distinctive vehicle number plates brought in a total of Dhs109,026,000 (Dhs109 million), the highest amount ever recorded in the history of distinctive number plate auctions since their inception.
At Dhs9.66 million, plate number BB12 was the most valuable at the auction, followed by plate number AA25 at Dhs8.04 million, plate number BB30 at Dhs6.74 million, and plate number CC100 at Dhs4.21 million.
These outcomes highlight the effectiveness of RTA’s approach to overseeing both open and electronic auctions. The approach is based on impartiality and openness while guaranteeing equal chances for everyone who wants to obtain unique license plates, which have symbolic meaning for their owners. At its 120th open auction, RTA offered 90 unique car number plates with two-, three-, four-, and five-digit codes.
Participants could register at the auction site, in Customer Happiness Centers in Umm Ramool, Deira, and Al Barsha, or on the RTA website, www.rta.ae, starting on December 22. Those who registered in advance were given priority.
