US-Saudi Clinch $142 Billion Military Pact, Other Agreements

According to a White House fact sheet, the United States agreed Tuesday to sell Saudi Arabia an arms package valued at around $142 billion, calling it “the largest defence cooperation agreement” Washington has ever made. The military agreement is a component of a $600 billion Saudi investment pledge for the US.

According to the fact sheet, the pact, which was inked when US President Donald Trump was in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, includes agreements with over a dozen US military businesses in fields including communications, marine security, air force and space advances, and air and missile defence.

Our commitment to fortifying our collaboration is evident in the package inked today, which is the biggest defence cooperation agreement in US history, according to the information sheet. Last month, Reuters initially revealed that the weaponry deal would have a value of well over $100 billion. The biggest buyer of American weapons is Saudi Arabia.

The administration of former President Joe Biden made an unsuccessful attempt to conclude a military agreement with Riyadh as part of a larger agreement that called for Saudi Arabia to normalise relations with Israel.
