The American University of Sharjah’s (AUS) president, Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, presided over the board’s recent on-campus meeting. During the meeting, the board discussed strategic priorities and adopted a number of resolutions that support academic development, improve governance, and bolster the institution’s long-term resilience.
The Board’s decisions reflect its focus on long-term capability and institutional resilience,” stated Sheikha Bodour. We are putting AUS in a position to anticipate change rather than respond to it by growing our graduate portfolio in strategically significant subjects and enhancing governance through operational partnerships and risk-informed frameworks. As a Board, it is our duty to maintain strategic alignment while empowering the executive team to produce quantifiable results that enhance research strength, academic excellence, and student achievement.
The board authorised the introduction of three new graduate programs as part of AUS’s academic progress agenda: the Master of Fine Arts in Trans-Disciplinary Design, the Master of Science in Environmental Sustainability and Management, and the Master of Science in Data Analytics Engineering. The university’s dedication to providing graduates with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills in analytics, sustainability, and design is reflected in the new programs, which broaden AUS’ graduate portfolio in highly sought-after fields.
