Although they haven’t given many specifics, Pakistani government officials have stated that their public peace initiative comes after weeks of quiet negotiations. Additionally, they have stated that Islamabad is prepared to hold negotiations between US and Iranian delegates.

Who has been Iran’s point of contact in the indirect negotiations is still unknown. Although Tehran has admitted responding with its own offers, Iran has insisted it has not held such discussions and rejected the US plan.
