The actress has vehemently defended herself against anyone who would criticize her beauty. During her appearance on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, the 22-year-old actress discussed the more “challenging” aspects of being a child actor.
“The things that didn’t help me, my goodness,” she remarked. In my opinion, public perception is not helpful. hearing people’s opinions about you all the time as a child. People started telling me I looked like a sixty-year-old woman when I was fifteen, I believe.
I would wear a big heel and people would say, my goodness, who does she think she is?” she added. However, when I wore a suit, people would make fun of me for being too elderly. I’ve come to the conclusion that [the haters] are all living contradictions. In reality, none of you have an opinion. You all resemble robots in certain ways. The “Stranger Things” actress had earlier posted a long statement to her “bullies,” in which she asked why it has been difficult for the public to “grow up” with her.
She posted on social media, “Instead, they act like I’m supposed to stay frozen in time, like I should still look the way I did on ‘Stranger Things’ season 1, and because I don’t, I’m now a target”.”I’m not going to apologize for maturing. I refuse to diminish myself in order to satisfy the irrational demands of those who find it intolerable when a girl grows into a woman. She said, “I won’t be ashamed of my appearance, attire, or self-presentation.
