On Friday, militants crashed an explosive-laden car into a Pakistani security checkpoint, killing 15 persons, including 12 troops. In response, 12 militants were also killed. The military and police base in the Tank district near the Afghan border was attacked overnight on Thursday and Friday. The area has a history of insurgent activity.
According to the army’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the attackers attempted to breach the security of the joint checkpoint but were repulsed by security forces who “swiftly and decisively foiled” the attack. Troops chased the attackers and killed 12 terrorists during the operation, demonstrating unrelenting courage and professionalism.
In a statement on the recent attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the military’s media wing stated that 15 brave soldiers, two police officers, and a former forest department official made the ultimate sacrifice and accepted Shahadat (martyrdom).”The attackers rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the perimeter wall,” the statement read. “The checkpoint’s infrastructure suffered significant damage as a result of the explosive impact. Militancy has increased dramatically in northwest Pakistan in recent months.
