Iran warned over the weekend against any “adventurous action” by the U.S. and said it would respond forcefully if American forces carry out President Donald Trump’s threats of new attacks on Iranian sites. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqhchi spoke by phone separately Saturday with senior Turkish, Pakistani and Saudi officials, only hours after Kuwait’s army announced it shot down hostile drones launched by Iran targeting multiple important facilities.
In a meeting with Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Araqhchi said Iran would respond decisively to any “aggression” and discussed the consequences of “destabilising actions” by the US and the prospects for heightened regional insecurity, according to Araqhchi’s Telegram account.
Later Araqhchi warned Saudi foreign minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan of a “proportionate response” should the US and Israel attack or regional countries join in attacks. They warned “all will be burned to ashes”. US airstrikes on Iranian energy facilities will be followed by Iranian strikes on oil fields in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and gas fields in Qatar and Israel.
