In a Recent Attack, Yemeni Rebels Report Roughly 40 Saudi Strikes

Following attacks by the Iran-backed group against the kingdom, the Houthi rebels in Yemen stated that Saudi forces fired roughly 40 airstrikes on Thursday. The governorates of Taiz, Hodeida, Al-Jawf, and Marib have seen about forty strikes by the Saudi enemy’s air force in recent hours, according to the Houthi news agency Saba.

As fighting broke out with the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, Saudi civil defence authorities announced an all-clear on Thursday after an emergency alert was issued in the southwestern province of Khamis Mushait for the fourth time in twenty-four hours.

Soon after, civil defence personnel said the threat had passed. The Saudi-led coalition claimed on Tuesday that recent Houthi attacks on the world’s biggest oil exporter had left at least 73 people injured in four southern Saudi cities, including Khamis Mushait.

In one of the worst attacks on Saudi Arabia since the US-Israeli war on Iran began in February, the militant organization claimed to have assaulted an airbase in Khamis Mushait and oil facilities in adjacent cities. According to the coalition, the Houthis persisted in their strikes on infrastructure and national assets on Wednesday. After years of war were largely put on hold by a UN-brokered truce in 2022, fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis has intensified in recent months, increasing concerns of a return to wider violence.
