While working in conjunction with Huawei, du was able to effectively implement enhanced 5G-enhanced (5G+) indoor connection at Majid Al Futtaim’s Mall of the Emirates. By achieving continuous rates that were greater than 3.5 gigabits per second across the whole shopping center, the implementation improved the digital experience for both customers and merchants.
The deployment includes more than 150 antennas that have been deliberately placed across the destination. These antennas are designed to maintain a high signal quality and provide seamless high-speed coverage throughout the mall’s major and minor regions. In addition to this, it employs three-band carrier aggregation, which results in a total bandwidth of 300 MHz with a single antenna. This bandwidth is comprised of 200 MHz on the N78 band and 100 MHz on the N41 band.
Compared with typical 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) networks, these capabilities produced data throughput more than 50% higher. In a statement made by Saleem Alblooshi, Chief Technology Officer at du, he stated that “Indoor connectivity is non-negotiable to the experience that people expect from major retail and entertainment destinations.” In order to demonstrate how 5G+ can deliver the speed, capacity, and consistency that are necessary to meet those expectations, our deployment at Mall of the Emirates has successfully taken place.
