On Monday, the Alliance Française of Sharjah and the American University of Sharjah (AUS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the AUS campus. The program aimed to encourage cooperation in fields that highlight French and Francophone cultures, enhance the university’s language offerings, and encourage the study of French.
Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the president of the American University of Sharjah, presided over the event. Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi and AUS Chancellor Dr. Tod Laursen signed the Memorandum of Understanding. The following individuals attended the ceremony: Stephanie Salha, Director of Institut Français UAE; Audrey Leseigneur, Director of Alliance Française, Sharjah; Lauren Martinez Randé, Head of Culture and Communication, Alliance Française, Sharjah; Sheikh Majid Al Qasimi, Director of the Department of Government Relations, Sharjah; and Sheikha Raad Fahim Al Qasimi, Secretary General of the International French Association in Sharjah.
Chancellor Laursen considered the partnership an opportunity to promote the learning of the French language and enrich students’ cultural experiences, strengthening the university’s commitment to offering its students a global perspective.
