To increase customer access to Northeast Asia and solidify Abu Dhabi’s status as an East-West gateway, Etihad Airways and Taipei-based STARLUX Airlines have inked a strategic codeshare agreement.
The collaboration, which was revealed at the International Air Transport Association Annual General Meeting in New Delhi, gives STARLUX travellers direct access to Etihad’s European network through Abu Dhabi and allows Etihad customers to easily connect to important Japanese cities like Nagoya, Sapporo, and Fukuoka via Taipei.
Beginning on September 7, 2025, Etihad will begin operating daily flights using Boeing 787 Dreamliners between Abu Dhabi and Taipei. By establishing Taipei as a gateway for Etihad’s growth into Northeast Asia, the new route lays the groundwork for the codeshare cooperation.
Etihad customers who make reservations via the airline’s mobile app and etihad.com will enjoy simplified travel, with automated luggage transfers to final destinations throughout STARLUX’s Asia-Pacific network, coordinated check-in procedures, and single-ticket purchases.
The deal also creates new routes for STARLUX customers to fly through Abu Dhabi to reach European locations like Prague, Madrid, and Barcelona, establishing the emirate as a desirable transit hub for Asian tourists heading to Europe.
