Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the European Union’s executive Commission, expressed her indignation at Russia’s most deadly attack on Kyiv since July, which also caused damage to the EU’s capital city delegation office.
The bombardment killed at least 21 people, including four children, and injured dozens more, according to Ukrainian officials. The EU mission and the British Council close suffered damage, and a five-story residential structure was destroyed.
According to von der Leyen’s strongly worded statement, “Two missiles hit in a distance of 50m (165ft) of the delegation within 20 seconds.” The statement claimed that Russian missiles had struck near the diplomatic mission.
According to Ukrainian military, Russia launched the largest attack on the capital this month, firing over 30 ballistic and cruise missiles and around 600 drones. In the south-eastern Darnytskyi area on the left bank of Kyiv, a five-story residential structure housed many of the dead. At around three in the morning, a missile crashed through the apartment complex, forcing it to collapse.
Diggers cleared debris, and rescuers scaled smoldering portions of the structure to search for survivors. Three of the youngsters slain were ages two, fourteen, and seventeen, according to officials. A number of other children were injured.
