As part of the 14th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2025), the Sharjah Press Club, under the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, will host a series of interactive sessions and debates on how digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) are reshaping journalism.
The forum, scheduled for September 10–11 at Expo Centre Sharjah, will feature an interactive space where visitors can experience professional news bulletin simulations, offering a closer look at the dynamics of the media industry.
The sessions reflect the club’s mission to provide timely knowledge in response to rapid technological shifts, while supporting the growth and development of media professionals in an evolving landscape.
A key highlight will be the debate “Journalism and AI: Humans or Machines?, which will examine both the benefits of AI in streamlining journalistic workflows and the ethical challenges it poses. Speakers include AI and innovation advisor Dr. Hossam Al Najjar and media technology consultant Simon Thithy.
Another session, “For Smarter Journalism: 30 Apps Every Journalist Needs,” will be led by Mobile Journalism Expert Nick Garnett. It will introduce tools designed to boost productivity, strengthen reporting techniques, and create compelling visual and interactive content that connects with audiences. The program aims to spark dialogue, share knowledge, and showcase tools that can help journalists innovate while staying true to core values.
