UAE Logistics Sector set to Contribute Over Dhs200 Billion to Economy

The UAE Logistics Integration Council has set a goal to boost the sector’s contribution to the national economy from Dhs136.7 billion in 2024 to over Dhs200 billion within the next seven years, according to Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure.

Al Mazrouei, who chaired the Council’s first meeting at the ministry’s Dubai headquarters, said the initiative aligns with the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision, which aims to rank the country among the world’s top three in the Logistics Performance Index. This will be achieved through advanced infrastructure, innovative services, and integrated systems that enhance trade flows and supply chains.

The Council unites all logistics-related entities including ports, transport, customs, railways, and border crossings making it a central platform for policy coordination and streamlined procedures. Its establishment is part of broader national efforts to strengthen the UAE’s role as a global logistics hub.

Discussions also covered the National Logistics Integration Strategy, digital platforms, data management, and the formation of subcommittees to oversee recommendations and implementation. Additionally, as a prime example of simplifying processes and achieving notable gains in the effectiveness of government services, the Council deliberated on the objective of eliminating bureaucracy in the logistics industry, especially in the maritime transport sector.
