Flydubai became the first airline in the United Arab Emirates to offer direct flights from Dubai when it launched its new route to Iași. With the launch of its twice-weekly service to Iași, the airline expands its network in Romania to include Bucharest and two more destinations.
Flydubai will increase its flights to Bucharest to a triple daily service in addition to its new route to Iași, increasing its weekly frequency to 21 flights. Local authorities, airport officials, and media members welcomed the first aircraft at Iași International Airport (IAS) with a traditional water cannon salute.
Romania has been a significant market for us where we have continued to see steady growth since starting flights in 2012,” stated Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, during the press conference. The number of passengers on our route to Bucharest has increased by 16% a year on average during the past few years.
To demonstrate the popularity of this route and the significant demand for travel between the UAE, Romania, and other destinations, we have expanded our flights from three times per week to three times per day.
