The Middle East’s first Joint Lab devoted to robotics and AI has been launched by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), the applied research division of Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), in collaboration with NVIDIA, a global leader in accelerated computing and AI. This historic partnership establishes a first-of-its-kind hub in the area for developing robotics platforms, humanoid technologies, and next-generation AI models, which will drive innovation across various industries.
At a signing event at TII’s Abu Dhabi headquarters, senior leaders from both companies announced the establishment of the TII-NVAITC (NVIDIA AI Technology Centre) Joint Lab for AI and Robotics.
In front of Shahab Abu Shahab, Director General at ATRC, Abdulaziz Al Dosari, Executive Director of Support Services at ATRC, John Josephakis, Global VP of Sales and Business Development for HPC/Supercomputing at NVIDA, and Simon See, Global Head of Nvidia AI Technology Centre at NVIDIA, the agreement was signed by Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII, and Marc Domenech, Regional Director, Enterprise – META Region at NVIDIA.
In line with the emirate’s long-term plan to promote technical sovereignty and influence the development of intelligent autonomous systems, the partnership positions Abu Dhabi at the forefront of applied AI. It also emphasizes how the UAE is becoming a global leader in AI and robotics.
