
South Korea was honored on Friday as the 12th edition’s Guest of Honor at the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth.This event gave viewers a glimpse into the richness and inventiveness of Korean film, which is renowned for its outstanding productions and poignant human tales.
The festival’s program this year included a number of participatory workshops and panel discussions that highlighted Korean culture and its universal philosophy, demonstrating how creativity and the arts can cut beyond linguistic and cultural divides.
The Korean film “2:15pm,” directed by Seryeong Jung, was shown at the Green Carpet screening. It tells the tale of a 10-year-old girl who meets a lonely youngster and they both learn about the strength of human connection and how it can overcome obstacles.
A Journey Through Korean Cinema: From Korea to the World” was the title of a panel discussion that examined the factors that contributed to Korean cinema’s international success and its impact on youthful viewers everywhere.
The event, which took place at VOX Cinemas in City Centre Al Zahia, showcased the experiences of Korean schoolchildren who made their own films, showcasing the inventiveness and originality that characterise modern Korean filmmaking.
The event, facilitated by the Korean Club in the United Arab Emirates, included comments from Ralm Lee, the director of the Busan International Film Festival, who noted that the triumph of Korean cinema “did not happen overnight.
