Trump Travels to Egypt to Urge Summit Leaders to Put the Old Feuds Behind Them

After traveling to Israel to commemorate a ceasefire with Hamas that the US mediated, US President Donald Trump traveled in Egypt Monday for a worldwide forum on Gaza’s future as part of his efforts to promote peace in the Middle East.
According to White House excerpts, Trump will say at the summit, “We have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to put the old feuds and bitter hatreds behind us, and to declare that our future will not be ruled by the fights of decades past.
The brief visit, which featured an address earlier in the day at the Knesset in Jerusalem, comes just when there is a glimmer of hope that the two-year conflict between Israel and Hamas would come to an end. Everyone said it couldn’t be done. And that will take place. Alongside Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, Trump stated, “And it is happening before your very eyes.”
The meeting is attended by representatives from around three dozen nations, including some from the Middle East and Europe. Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, was invited but turned it down because his administration said it was too near a Jewish holiday.
