
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has presented the Department of Agriculture and Livestock in Sharjah with the Award for Best Practices in the Field of Plant Production and Sustainable Plant Protection.
The department’s wheat production methods in the Meliha region are recognized by the prize, which is a recent international accomplishment that emphasizes the Emirate of Sharjah’s and the United Arab Emirates’ overall contribution in fostering creative and climate-resilient food systems.
At the FAO Global Technical Award Ceremony, which took place at the organization’s headquarters in Rome on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabeh Al Teneiji, Chairman of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock and CEO of the Sharjah Establishment for Agricultural and Livestock Production, or “EKTIFA,” was presented with the certificate for this worldwide accomplishment.
The occasion took place as part of the 2025 World Food Forum and the commemorations of the FAO’s 80th anniversary of creation. This distinction reaffirms Sharjah’s dedication to creating sustainable agricultural systems that leverage contemporary technology and innovation in accordance with both domestic and global concerns.
