Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi’s worldwide efforts to advance publishing and educational advancement have earned her the title of Unesco Goodwill Ambassador for Education and Book Culture.
Sheikha Bodour has long defended education, access to knowledge, and artistic expression as the cornerstones of long-term development in her roles as chair of the Sharjah Book Authority and president of the American University of Sharjah (AUS).
I am honored to be a Goodwill Ambassador for Education and Book Culture with Unesco, stated Sheikha Bodour. Books support robust, knowledge-based civilizations by fostering community connections and mental development. Promoting literacy, education, and cultural access is not a luxury in a period of rapid change.
This position strengthens my long-standing dedication to empowerment through books, education, and cultural engagement,” she continued. I’m excited to collaborate with Unesco to promote these ideals and contribute to expanding access to education and artistic expression. Sheikha Bodour is regarded as one of the most important people in the publishing sector worldwide.
As the first Arab woman to serve as President of the International Publishers Association (IPA) since its inception in 1896, she spearheaded international discussions on equal access to knowledge, freedom of publication, and inclusivity.
