On Monday, Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, the president of Egypt, asked US President Donald Trump to end the Iran War and stated that concerns about the price of oil rising above $200 were real. At the Egypt Energy Show 2026 energy conference in Cairo, Sisi stated, “I tell President Trump: nobody can stop the war in our region in the Gulf but you. Sisi mentioned analysts’ worries that “the price of a barrel of oil could reach more than $200, and this is not an exaggeration,” highlighting the effects of supply constraints and price increases.
Egypt, which has historically benefited from US military assistance and support from wealthy Gulf nations, has backed diplomatic attempts to prevent a wider regional conflict and denounced Iranian strikes on Gulf Arab governments.
Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, the secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council coalition, denounced Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and its attacks on regional energy infrastructure and called on the international community to safeguard important maritime passages. Speaking electronically at the conference, he declared that Iranian aggression posed a global threat.
