Trump Dismisses US Attorney General Pam Bondi

Attorney General Pam Bondi was fired by US President Donald Trump on Thursday due to growing dissatisfaction with her performance, particularly on the disclosure of papers pertaining to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. According to sources, Trump also believed that Bondi was taking too long to bring criminal charges against opponents and detractors.

Trump said on social media that the Justice Department will be temporarily led by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, a longtime personal attorney of his. Trump hailed Bondi in the post as a “Great American Patriot and a loyal friend” who has led a “massive crackdown in Crime.”” According to Trump, Bondi will shortly take a position in the private sector. In a social media post, Blanche thanked Trump and complimented Bondi.”We’ll keep supporting the Blue, upholding the law, and doing everything we can to protect America,” he declared. Bondi undermined the Justice Department’s long-standing reputation of independence from the White House in its investigations and was a vocal supporter of Trump’s agenda during her time as the top US law enforcement official.

However, her time was dominated by persistent criticism regarding the Epstein files, especially from Trump friends and certain Republican politicians. Bondi was charged with concealing or improperly handling the disclosure of documents pertaining to the DOJ’s sex-trafficking investigations into Epstein, a financier who developed connections with prominent and affluent individuals.
