An employee who has worked for a company for 22 years must be paid Dhs289,265 by the Abu Dhabi Labour Court of First Instance. Including fees and costs associated with pay and end-of-service benefits, this decision is instantly enforceable without the need for bail.
In the beginning, the case began when a person complained about his former employer to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization’s Department of Labor. It was sent to court because the department was unable to settle the dispute. The person subsequently sued the corporation, demanding that it pay him Dhs230,400 in back salary, Dhs138,865 in end-of-service compensation, and Dhs24,000 in housing allowance.
Enforcing the decision immediately, the Court further ordered the company to pay fees and expenses. Based on the allegation that the person had a fixed-term employment contract with the company and had quit, the complaint was filed. But even though his base pay was Dhs6,720 a month, the corporation had not yet fully paid him.
The employee resigned because they were not paid, according to the lawsuit papers. The corporation was required to demonstrate that salaries were paid, but it did not offer a defense that would show payment. Since he received Dhs8,400 in total pay, he is eligible for Dhs229,880 in back pay.
