To educate e-scooter users about traffic safety regulations and draw attention to certain routes and areas for their use, the Dubai Police, represented by the General Department of Traffic, Naif Police Station, and Positive Spirit Council, organized an awareness scootercade. Participants travelled inside the station’s boundaries along Bani Yas Street.
According to Brigadier Omar Ashour Mousa, Acting Director of the Naif Police Station, the scooter’s purpose was to inform electric scooter users about the highways and routes where riding is permitted and traffic laws and procedures. To guarantee user safety, he stressed the importance of adhering to all safety and security standards, guidelines, and laws in specified locations.
Brig. Mousa also stressed the significance of adhering to traffic laws, staying on approved roads, wearing a reflective vest, wearing a good helmet, and outfitting the scooter with a bright red reflector light at the back and a bright white reflective light at the front. Additionally, he emphasised the importance of making sure scooters have working brakes.
According to Brig. Mousa, the scooter’s goal was to increase adherence to traffic laws and regulations, hence improving the safety of the emirate’s roads. He reiterated Dubai Police’s dedication to ensuring comfort and safety for road users by enhancing traffic enforcement efforts to reduce violations and curb reckless motorists who endanger the safety of others.
