Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid’s Leadership is Extolled in British Archives

The remarkable attributes of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai, are highlighted in official British records from government authorities in London that date back to the 1960s through the 1980s. He was acknowledged as a leader with exceptional vision and a strong sense of duty from an early age. His late father, Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, trusted him unconditionally because of these qualities, and he was respected by well-known people all over the world.

The documents also show that Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, may he rest in peace, considered his son to be a deserving heir to his heritage. Sheikh Mohammed’s father was confident in his ability to take on responsibilities and steer the future, even at the age of sixteen.

Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum was the most promising applicant to form the Dubai Defence Force, which subsequently served as the basis for the UAE Armed Forces, according to reports from the British Ministry of Defence in 1968. Despite his relatively young age at the time, he received this recognition.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid was referred to in official British documents in the early 1970s as a “natural leader,” highlighting the fact that his appointment as Minister of Defense in 1971 represented a major advancement for the United Arab Emirates and the wider region.
