Renowned Indian filmmaker Shyam Benegal passed away from chronic kidney illness. He was a trailblazer of a new wave filmmaking movement that addressed social themes in the 1970s. He was ninety years old.
As a director, editor, and screenwriter, he significantly contributed to the film industry. He was also given credit for creating a brand-new type of cinema. According to his daughter Piya, Benegal passed away on Monday at Mumbai’s Wockhardt Hospital. His cremation is scheduled for Tuesday, the Press Trust of India news agency reported.
Chronic renal disease has been Benegal’s problem for several years, but it had gotten terrible. That’s what killed him,” Piya stated.
Many people respected the renowned director on social media site X.
Benegal, according to filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, conveyed stories without pretension. They discussed the hardships of familiar people and were honest and unvarnished. He made films with conviction and skill.
