The United Arab Emirates, which is home to one million Filipinos, is still not included in the Middle East’s “Crisis Alert Levels” list. The advisory, issued Monday evening (afternoon in the UAE) by the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), includes the exclusion.
To determine the status of Filipinos in their respective jurisdictions, DFA “continues to coordinate closely with Philippine Foreign Service Posts in the region and has actively monitored the situation over the past 72 hours.” Our posts are still active and on the ground.
There are still four in Alert Level Four: Syria, where the Philippine Embassy is in Damascus; Yemen, where the Philippine Embassy is in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and Gaza, which is within the jurisdiction of the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel, and Amman, Jordan.
“Unchanged” as Alert Level 2 include Iran, where the Philippine Embassy is located in Tehran; Kurdistan, where the Philippine Embassy is located in Baghdad; Israel, where the Philippine Embassy is located in Tel Aviv; and the West Bank, where the Philippine Embassy is located in Amman and Tel Aviv.
