Trump Threatens to Impose 25% fines on Apple and 50% Tariffs on the EU

On Friday, President Donald Trump threatened to impose a 25% tariff on Apple products unless they are manufactured in the United States and a 50% tax on all imports from the European Union. The social media threats highlight Trump’s ability to use a quick typing session to upend the world economy and the fact that his tariffs haven’t yet resulted in the trade agreements he wants or the return of home manufacturing he promised supporters.

To facilitate talks between Washington and Beijing, the Republican president stated that he would prefer to impose greater import duties on products from the EU, a longstanding US friend, than from China, a geopolitical foe whose tariffs were lowered to 30% this month. Even while the president has openly insisted on maintaining a baseline 10% tax on most imports, the EU has offered mutually decreasing tariffs to zero, which has angered Trump.

“Our discussions with them are not progressing at all!” Trump shared something on Truth Social. As a result, I suggest imposing a flat 50% tariff on the EU beginning on June 1, 2025. There is no tariff if the product is made or constructed in the US. The threat of import charges on Apple for its intentions to keep producing the iPhone in Asia had come before that post. Apple suddenly joined Amazon, Walmart, and other significant US corporations in the White House’s crosshairs as they attempted to address the uncertainties and inflationary pressures unleashed by his tariffs.
