Residents of the United Arab Emirates are taking advantage of volume discounts as Ramadan draws near in order to save a significant amount of money on their purchases.
Supermarkets, hypermarkets, and even neighbourhood baqalas have started to offer bulk Ramadan discounts, enabling customers to stock up ahead of time.
Emphasising that careful preparation helps prevent food waste by ensuring flexible supplies are on hand for various meals, without the need for frequent supermarket runs, many expats are taking full advantage of the trend. Additionally, shoppers advise budgeting for apparel and décor and concentrating on what is necessary rather than giving in to impulsive buys.
Ahead of the holy month, Zoya Shaikh, a resident of Abu Dhabi, bought a larger refrigerator because it’s customary to prepare elaborate meals during this time of year.
The Indian expat told Khaleej Times, “I feel like I got a good deal on a new four-door French door refrigerator for Dhs 3,000, mainly to have extra freezer storage for Ramadan.” It’s a roomy and fashionable refrigerator. The freezer is fantastic; I intend to fill it with my family’s favourite foods, samosas, Russian cutlets, and Shami kebabs. Zoya emphasised that she minimises everyday housework during Ramadan while prioritising her faith more.
