Following approval by the Education, Human Development, and Community Development Council, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has announced a new academic calendar structure for the academic year 2025-2026 that will be implemented across all public and private higher education institutions (HEIs), reflecting a shared commitment to advancing the national education system.
The new structure introduces significant changes to end-of-term holidays, aiming to create a more flexible and consistent academic calendar for UAE-based higher education institutions. The framework, aligned with the ‘Year of Community’ objectives, seeks to foster family closeness while supporting students through a fair distribution of study and rest hours.
Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar said the new academic calendar demonstrates the Ministry’s dedication to establishing an integrated university environment that fulfills student needs, improves academic life, and raises student achievement.
“By coordinating academic policies with community development objectives and student needs, we are continuing to improve the efficiency of the higher education system,” Dr. Al Awar continued. The modifications signify a qualitative shift toward a more adaptable, well-balanced system that promotes students’ personal development, community involvement, and overall well-being.
