Ukraine and Russia Agree to a 30-day Ceasefire, and the US will Resume Exchanging Intelligence

During discussions with US officials in Saudi Arabia, Ukraine agreed to accept an immediate 30-day truce in the conflict with Russia, the two nations stated in a joint statement. The ball is now in Moscow’s court, according to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said he will immediately make the offer to the Russians. The United States and Kyiv will once again exchange intelligence.

After Kyiv’s military launched the war’s most significant drone attack on Moscow overnight, Ukrainian and US officials convened behind closed doors for hours to discuss ways to end the conflict with Russia.

After almost eight hours of negotiations, the two sides released a joint statement claiming Ukraine was open to accepting the US proposal for an immediate, 30-day ceasefire that could be extended by both parties with Russia’s approval and execution.

According to the statement, the United States will convey to Russia that establishing peace requires Russian reciprocity. The United States will quickly lift the pause on sharing information and resume security assistance to Ukraine.
