Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah, part of Emirates Health Services (EHS), has successfully performed the UAE’s first surgery to break up calcified deposits inside the coronary arteries utilizing a new and advanced technique.
The treatment was carried out on a female Emirati patient who had been suffering from significant chest pain caused by persistent and complicated calcification in the coronary arteries. The surgery was successful, demonstrating Al Qasimi Hospital’s leadership in implementing modern treatment options in cardiology and interventional catheterization.
Dr. Issam Al Zarouni, Executive Director of EHS’s Medical Services Sector, noted that the organization is committed to provide all required skills to assist specialized disciplines across its healthcare facilities.
He stated that this is in line with fast changing global trends and strengthens the country’s integrated specialised healthcare system. He went on to say that incorporating innovative therapy technology into EHS institutions demonstrates an institutional strategy focused on proactiveness and readiness.
