According to the US News Best Global Universities rankings for 2026–2027, the University of Sharjah (UoS) has been the best university in the United Arab Emirates for three years running. It stood out among institutions from more than 100 nations assessed in a system that evaluates research performance and regional and global academic reputation across 13 variables, ranking 247th globally and 57th in Asia.
Notable advancements in several fields, most notably green and sustainable science and technology, which ranked tenth internationally, contributed to the University’s impressive performance. Engineering came in at number 77, while energy and fuels came in at number 27. High-level posts in chemical engineering, clinical medicine, electrical and electronic engineering, physical chemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology were also obtained by the university.
On this occasion, Sheikh Sultan Ahmed Al Qasimi, the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, received congratulations from Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, on an accomplishment that he claimed demonstrated the university’s preeminent status on a regional and global scale.
According to Professor Agamy, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi’s vision and unwavering dedication to advancing scientific research and higher education to the highest international standards have enabled UAE universities to maintain their top spot in this esteemed global ranking for the third year in a row.
