Emirates plans to launch a new scheduled route between Dubai and Colombo on January 2, 2025. Sri Lanka’s aims to significantly boost tourist visits in 2025 are supported by the recently launched aircraft, which will run as EK654/655 and expand the route’s seat capacity by 30%.
Until March 31, 2025, the supplemental service will run six days a week. EK654 will arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake, at 4 p.m. (all hours are local) after leaving Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 10:05 a.m. (except on Wednesdays).
The return flight, EK655, is scheduled to depart BIA at 10 p.m. and arrive at DXB at 1.05 a.m. the next day. A seventh weekly trip will begin operating on Wednesdays starting April 1, 2025, with an adapted departure time of 10:05 p.m., arriving in DXB at 12:55 a.m. The return flight will leave Dubai at 1:20 p.m., arriving in Colombo at 7:15 p.m. There are now two direct flights operated by Emirates between Colombo and Dubai, along with a third daily route via Male.
With 8 suites in First Class, 42 Business Class, and 310 Economy Class seats, the extra flight can carry up to 360 passengers. It provides a first-rate customer experience while increasing convenience and choice with a longer flight schedule. Emirates and Sri Lanka Tourism have a long-standing strategic agreement in which they work together on projects and programs to increase travel to Sri Lanka.
