Three foreigners were killed and numerous others were injured when a hotel on Bangkok’s Khao San Road, a well-known tourist area, caught fire, Thai police reported Monday. Police Colonel Sanong Saengmanee told The Associated Press that all three of the victims of Sunday night’s fire were foreign visitors.
Two of them passed away after being taken to the hospital, while one was discovered dead at the site. Police eventually identified the deceased as an American guy, a Brazilian woman, and a Ukrainian male. One of the four hospitalized individuals was in critical condition. According to police, the fire started on the fifth floor of the six-story Ember Hotel. Known for its vibrant nightlife, Khao San Road is a well-liked backpacker strip in the Thai capital.
The cause of the fire is being investigated, and the flames were eventually contained. At the time of the fire, the hotel was occupied by 75 guests.
Firefighters “broke the glass over there to try to pull people out, according to Sreekanth Kolamala, a 37-year-old Indian national who resides in Singapore and was on holiday in Thailand.
