The Arab Summit Accepts the Egyptian Plan for Rebuilding Gaza

In a closing remarks, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi claimed that an Arab conference held in Cairo on Tuesday had approved an Egyptian proposal for Gaza rehabilitation. By offering a plan for restoring the damaged strip without uprooting its residents, the initiative seeks to refute President Donald Trump’s ideas for a “Middle East Riviera”.
In contrast to US President Donald Trump’s “Middle East Riviera” vision, Egypt stated the reconstruction plan for Gaza would cost $53 billion and refrain from resettling Palestinians, according to a copy of the plan. During the event, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi declared his confidence that Trump could bring about peace on what he called the Palestinian issue.
Who will govern the enclave and which nations will contribute the billions of dollars required for the rehabilitation of the damaged region are the two main questions surrounding Gaza’s future. According to Sisi, Egypt and the Palestinians collaborated to establish an administrative committee made up of impartial, skilled Palestinian technocrats who would be in charge of running Gaza. In anticipation of the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) return, he said, the committee will oversee humanitarian aid and temporarily run the Strip’s affairs.
