For the Emirates Mission to the Asteroid Belt, the UAE Space Agency has Finished the Crucial Design Assessment

The Critical Design Review (CDR), which took place from February 24 to 26, 2025, was successfully completed by the Emirates Mission to the Asteroid Belt (EMA), marking an important milestone.

A prestigious collection of Emirati and foreign professionals helped achieve this feat, opening the door for the Mohammed Bin Rashid Explorer’s assembly, integration, and testing in the following stage. We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment,” stated Salem Butti Salem Al Qubaisi, Director-General of the UAE Space Agency. Completing this EMA phase reflects the UAE’s goal of making dreams come true.

The mission represents an advanced step in our journey of scientific innovation,” Al Qubaisi continued. It strengthens our position in deep space exploration and provides future generations with exciting opportunities in technology, education, and the economy. He also emphasized the significance of developing technical and scientific skills within this crucial industry.

The CDR thoroughly evaluates every facet of the program, including the intricate planning, manufacturing processes, exact engineering drawings, assembly, integration, testing methods, and the spaceship and its subsystems’ complex designs. It also entails a comprehensive performance study to ensure the mission’s strategic goals are fulfilled.
