
While sleeping at their grandfather’s house in Nahil, three Emirati children from the Al Kaabi family, ages six to thirteen, died in Al Ain on Friday morning after breathing in smoke from a fire that started in an annex. The children were identified as Hareb, age 6, Salem Ghareeb Mohammed Al Kaabi, age 10, and Dhiab Saeed Mohammed Al Kaabi, age 13.
According to the children’s uncle, the incident happened on Friday at around 9:30 a.m. when they were sleeping in the annex, which included many rooms.
He stated that while they were asleep, a fire started in one of the annex rooms due to an electrical short circuit, and the smoke from the fire spread to the room where they were resting, suffocating them.
Their granddad suffered minor burns while attempting to save them. According to reports, he received therapy and is doing well now. Notification was promptly sent to the appropriate authorities.
