“The decision by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to approve the boundaries of the Faya site nominated for inscription on the Unesco World Heritage List, embodies his far-sighted vision and profound commitment to protecting humanity’s heritage and safeguarding its treasures for future generations,” stated Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, official ambassador for the ongoing Unesco World Heritage nomination of the Faya Palaeolandscape.
In addition to enhancing Sharjah’s standing as a global hub of knowledge and culture, this location, whose history has been entwined with humanity’s for over 200,000 years, reflects our unwavering conviction that heritage serves as a link between the past and present, giving communities a revitalised identity and a living memory.
We are working with the highest commitment and tenacity to make sure the Faya site gets the credit it so richly merits on the UNESCO World Heritage List,” she stressed. This location serves as a testimony to the history of all humanity, not only the history of the United Arab Emirates.
