At least 17 flights from Dubai to several cities in Iran, including Tehran, Shiraz, and Mashhad, have been cancelled, according to Dubai Airport’s website. A Flydubai spokesperson told Khaleej Times that all of the airline’s flights to Iran scheduled for Friday, January 9, have been cancelled.
The spokesperson added that the airline is directly contacting passengers affected by the cancellations. “We are closely monitoring the situation and will make changes to our flight schedule if required,” the representative said. Customers were also instructed to visit their travel shop, check flight status on the airline’s website, contact the flydubai Contact Center, or contact their travel agency for rebooking options.
A nationwide internet outage was reported in Iran on Thursday and continued into Friday as authorities attempted to stop growing protests, but the Dubai Airports website did not give an explanation for the cancellations.
Beginning at the end of December, nationwide demonstrations against economic problems have rocked the nation. Furthermore, Turkish Airlines canceled 17 flights, Turkish airline Ajet canceled six flights, and low-cost airline Pegasus Airlines canceled flights to Iranian cities on Friday, according to Turkish media.
