In collaboration with the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) stated that 230 social media accounts that promoted domestic worker recruiting services were shut down during the course of the previous year.
The action was taken after it was determined that the owners of these accounts were in flagrant violation of the Domestic Workers Law since they had not obtained the required licenses from the Ministry and were not connected to any licensed recruitment offices authorised to engage in the practice of hiring this type of worker.
Through an integrated field and digital regulatory system that protects the legal rights of all parties involved and guarantees the provision of cutting-edge and competitive services to employers as well as Emirati and resident families, the Ministry reaffirmed its stringent oversight over organisations offering domestic worker recruitment services.
The Ministry noted that such cooperation unifies government efforts in combating these violations and praised TDRA’s efforts and cooperation in shutting down illicit accounts offering domestic worker services on social media.
